Executive order Watch Day 5

April 2025 Signing

Month Four of Trump’s Executive Orders

If left unchecked, the April 2025 executive orders—particularly EO 14257 (Reciprocal Tariff Order), EO 14256 (Targeted Opioid-Related Tariffs), and EO 14259/14266 (Retaliatory and Low-Value Import Tariffs on China)—signal an aggressive shift toward economic nationalism that could destabilize global trade norms. While these moves may appear aimed at protecting American industries, they risk triggering tariff wars, worsening inflation on consumer goods, and straining diplomatic relations with key trading partners like China. For American citizens, this means potentially higher prices on essential imports, disrupted supply chains, and retaliatory tariffs harming U.S. exports and jobs. For undocumented populations, whose work often supports industries reliant on global trade (e.g., agriculture, logistics), economic downturns driven by trade retaliation may result in job loss and increased exploitation. On the world stage, these EOs can provoke defensive alliances, accelerate trade decoupling, and destabilize fragile global supply chains—especially in strategic sectors like semiconductors, minerals, and pharmaceuticals.

Additionally, EO 14287 (Protecting American Communities From Criminal Aliens), EO 14288 (Strengthening Law Enforcement), and EO 14284 (Federal Employee Probation Reforms) reflect a broader domestic policy shift toward law-and-order authoritarianism with potentially harsh outcomes for vulnerable populations. EO 14287 in particular revives harmful rhetoric conflating immigration with criminality, potentially leading to increased ICE raids, racial profiling, and reduced community cooperation with law enforcement, endangering both citizens and non-citizens. Meanwhile, EO 14284 makes it easier to terminate federal workers during probationary periods, which could be used to purge employees seen as politically undesirable—undermining civil service protections and inviting abuses of power. Internationally, this draconian stance on immigration and policing, combined with intensified protectionism, portrays the U.S. as increasingly isolationist and hostile, weakening its soft power, straining alliances, and encouraging authoritarian regimes to justify similar domestic crackdowns.

Learn About Resistance Lab

Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th Congressional District and chairs the Congressional Progressive Caucus, is set to host a “Resistance Lab” meeting on June 1,2025. The event is part of her ongoing efforts to mobilize grassroots activism and engage constituents around key progressive priorities, including defending democracy, reproductive rights, and economic justice. Attendees can expect updates on recent legislative battles, strategies to push back against extremist agendas like Project 2025, and ways to get involved in community organizing at the local level.

The propose for this Summary is in an attempt to allow others to understand that this mission statement known as the Mandate is different than just a political movement. This movement purpose is not meant to help those who it claims to and we would argue that their Mandate has and will do damage to our world. This has been a journey of exploration, interesting, hypocritical, short sighted and often times cruel in nature.
